Ali has been invited by the Nelson Mandela Foundation to appear at one of the events, in Germany on July 12th, celebrating Nelson Mandelas Birthday and in conjunction with one of the foundations major campaigns, Goal 4 Africa.
Ali will be speaking at a press conference being held in London on Friday 27th June, prior to the 46664 concert, together with Clarence Seedorf ( AC Milan / Holland ) the Global Ambassador for Goal 4 Africa and the CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Achmat Dangor to announce the event.
Ali has recorded a new version of Many Rivers to Cross with world famous South African choir, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, as the official anthem for Goal 4 Africa, a CD/DVD of the anthem and event will be onsale later this year world wide, to raise funds for the campaign and Ali will be appearing
together with Ladysmith Black Mambazo and several other international artists, at the global event, being held at the Allianz Stadium in Munich, Germany, on July 12th.
This event will also have a live TV broadcast to over 40 countries, including, Uk, Europe, Africa, Russia, and the USA.
The global kick off event, is the start of a 2 year campaign, which leads up to the World Cup Final, being held in South Africa in 2010 and is one of the initiatives which the foundation have started, to attempt to fulfill Nelson Mandelas dream of a legacy of improved education for all, in Africa.
The event will consist of a football match played in the stadium with 20 of the worlds greatest players taking part, including, Ronaldo, Drogba ( the list will be released ) followed by a concert featuring Ali and Ladysmith Black Mambazo and international artists to be announced.
Ali said, he was honoured to be invited to take part in the event and to record and perform, the official anthem, with Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
